Here's where I'd like the impeachment hearings to go next:
There's no question that the Democrats have done a great job of proving that trump did in fact commit the various offenses with which he is charged. That he's guilty is not really up for debate anymore. What is debatable in the minds of Independents and moderate Republicans is whether or not these offenses are worthy of impeachment. What we need to debate now are values.
I would like to see the Dems bring in some historians and constitutional scholars to discuss what is an impeachable offense and why trump's behavior rises to that level. Put things in context. Specifically, why does trump asking Ukraine to help dig up dirt on Biden constitute bribery and extortion. I'd also like to see some foreign policy experts talk about why holding back military aid to Ukraine is detrimental to the national security to the United States.
Like any courtroom trial, the burden of proof is on the prosecution. The Dems have shown what trump did, they now need to show why what he did warrants removal from office. The cold, hard facts are out therenow the Dems need to persuade the public that trump is indeed the most corrupt president in history and should be removed.
