The fact is, likely, that narcissist Trump never even wants to listen to anybody ever, so no doubt he usually doesn't hear people on cell phones even if they are in shouting.

He may also be hard of hearing, but you are correct. It is very easy to listen in on someone's conversation on a cell phone. You have to try hard to keep those conversations private at times.

When I get a call on my cell phone, I usually get up and walk out of the room I am in, if at all possible. 2 reasons. 1. It is rude and disruptive to have a conversation in front of other people like if you are in a meeting, at lunch with a friend/partner/spouse etc... and 2. There may be information in the call that you don't want anyone to hear.

13. I was literally (using the word correctly) sitting near someone overhearing their phone call...

when my sister texted me about the absurd claim.

Seriously, sitting in a cafe setting at a neighboring table. The person on the phone was not on speaker and I could hear clearly that the woman on the other end wanted the man to pick up cough medicine to bring home to their daughter. I wasn't even at the same table!

The CNN folks were ridiculing this when I got in the car later to head home.
