An MSNBC executive told HuffPo‘s Michael Calderone that there had been a conscious decision not to have Buchanan on air because of the views expressed in the book which is described this way on Amazon.com:

"America was born a Western Christian republic but is being transformed into a multiracial, multicultural, multilingual, multiethnic stew of a nation that has no successful precedent in the history of the world."

The groups CREDO Action and ColorofChange.org — which took credit for the beginning of the end of Glenn Beck on Fox News — is going one further. Today the groups announced they have delivered 275,000 signatures on a petition demanding the network fire Buchanan for his “long history of bigoted rhetoric.”

Is MSNBC Freezing Out Pat Buchanan Because Of His Controversial New Book?

For 21 consecutive months, MSNBC has been No. 1 among African American viewers in prime time. So maybe it’s no surprise that Pat Buchanan, the controversial pundit, hasn’t appeared on the network since late October. The Huffington Post’s Michael Calderone reports that Buchanan hasn’t shown up on MSNBC since Oct. 22, while doing the rounds on other stations to promote his new book, Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive To 2025?. The book has a chapter titled, “The End of White America,” and — according to Sam Fullwood III of American Progress — it has some interesting racial undertones. As well as some interesting racial overtones. Including:

"Those who believe the rise in power of an Obama rainbow coalition of peoples of color means the whites who helped to engineer it will steer it are deluding themselves. The whites may discover what it is like to ride in the back of the bus."

For years Buchanan has been a permanent guest on The McLaughlin Group, a political talk show on PBS (it's excellent, BTW).

I looked at the podcasts and saw that Buchanan was there, in his regular chair, on last week's show.

Sooooo...his not being on MSNBC has something to do with his contract with MSNBC and not his health. Esp since he's also been on CNN.

Of course, it could be as simple as they couldn't agree on terms, when it came time to renew. Or it could've been complaints against him because of his views. Who knows?

Of course most people feel diversity is a good thing, I'm sure Pat doesn't share that feeling. But he is wrong about us being born a Western Christian nation, and about us being transformed into a multiracial, multicultural, multilingual, multiethnic stew of a nation.

We have been a multiracial, multicultural, multilingual, multiethnic stew of a nation for a long, long time. We have always had Native Americans and Mexicans. Then English and Spaniards were added, then Italian, Irish, Chinese, etc. I apologize that my list is not all inclusive, and probably not in the correct order, but you get the idea. Of course I haven't even touched upon the different religions. This all happened long before Pat even drew his first breath.

I may be wrong but I don't think Pat likes stew.

Pat Buchanan's Worst MSNBC Moments
November 03, 2011 5:22 pm

MSNBC political analyst Pat Buchanan has a long history of bigoted commentary in his books, columns, speeches, memos, and media appearances. Here are a few of his worst moments on MSNBC.

Buchanan: Obama's Higher Education Was "Probably Affirmative Action All The Way." From the April 26, 2011, edition of MSNBC's Hardball:

MSNBC Forced To Remove Buchanan's Column Defending Hitler: From MSNBC's website, accessed September 3, 2009:

"Offended" Buchanan Stands Up For "White Males," Falsely Claiming Only "White Males" Died At Gettysburg, Normandy.

*snip*
Buchanan: "This Has Been A Country Built, Basically, By White Folks." From the July 16, 2009, edition of MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show:

Pat's history of anti gay hate speech is one of the worst in the nation. 'Uncle Pat' she said, to the man who slanders her own community...well actually, Pat goes after gay men, mostly, so Rachel made her wee pact with her so called heart and decided the millions were worth promoting Pat as part of our political discourse.
Many on DU defended Pat and her use of Pat and I myself get chided for not playing Patsy cake. "It's fun to watch Rachel spar with him!" They said. Of course, that is when DU thought Pat was 'just' anti gay. Many here think that is fine and dandy. Then they found out what I knew since the 80's, Pat is a racist as well as a hater of gay people. Huge racist.
Prior to her adopting him as Uncle, I had heard Maddow speak of her extreme emotional reaction to a Pat speech. RNC speech. She claimed she was hurt and crying and all. Then later they offered her money, and she helped promote him.
My respect for her is slim as a 2 million dollar paycheck. She does some good work, yet is it tainted with all that 'I like this hate monger' shit she did for so long. She got rich, gets limos and wee jets for her and her partner and a few homes. The rest of us get more years of Pat mongering hate. She's protected, so she felt fine sending him out to get the rest of us....'Oh, honey, if they make gay camps we get exempted, don't worry, they will only take the non A-List gays. Is the car here yet? The plane is waitin!'

I thought he was on a really long vacation, but older men are at risk of getting a number of illnesses (namely, cancer), so maybe that's it.

Despite some of his views, I hate to hear that anyone is that sick. That's more than the flu.

Racism

Homophobia

Religious Zealotry

Fear

Sexism

When Lincoln and the Republicans worked to end slavery, the South went solidly Democratic. In fact for most of the 1900s the south was viewed as the "solid block" it was so Democratic. Then, when a new generation of Democrats swept in and assisted with the passage of civil rights legislation, magically, the South went Republican. Today it is a "solid block" for Republicans.

Understanding how and why people vote the way they do, has become almost too easy to predict.

Anyone (Including Morning Joe) who support Buchanan, feed into the hatred that fuels Republican support.
