to make "Back to the Future" remakes or reboots or something.

The introduction was a bomb.

Laser light show and all... the 1980s called and they want their "style" back.

I thought it was a joke. It looks like the side of a house. The fenders look like they cut the body with tin snips and bent the metal up with pliers.

In October it jumped over $75 on good earnings news, but it had fallen all the way to $178/share in early June.

It's been a roller coaster for a while.

5 Year Chart

I had a small position. I bought and sold and bought again a few times, made a few bucks and got out in the Spring. I put in an order to buy at $175 but it missed my limit by $3! I should have got it anyway!

The firm has had it's share of naysayers, to be sure. It was one of the most widely shorted issues on the market for a time.

But a 6% loss in a single day is only 6%, not too terrible.

If it falls back to $200 again, I'm in. I might regret not buying at any point above that, but oh well!!

(FWIW... Nothing I typed above should be construed as a recommendation to purchase, nor a solicitation to buy any security. Before making ANY purchase, one should completely familiarize themselves with the risk inherent in purchasing securities, including shares of stock in Tesla Inc.)

But a 6% loss on a day when you announce a new product is an interesting collective judgment.

Yes, today's unveiling looks like it turned into a disaster!

But this firm has had a string of them. Remember when Musk smoked a doob on camera during an interview with Joe Rogan? The shares suffered from that, too!

I think this firm has some legs, though. As a brand new startup, (OK...16 years isn't exactly brand new!) it has already well outlasted every other new car manufacturer to come along in my lifetime. Remember Sterling? Daewoo?

They are currently building a massive factory in Shanghai and simply put, electric cars are here to stay. If they get a good solid footprint in China and iron out the production problems they have been having at the plant in Fremont, they could very well become an extremely profitable company. One "Bull" on their stock suggested it could very well be at $1000 in a few years.

Let them start producing the semi in large numbers, correct the various problems and enhance delivery on the cars, and they could very well turn it around.

Must needs to keep his mouth shut, though!!

Seriously, you have to see the video.

I don’t know where to find it, but saw it on tv this morning. Hilarious!

Edited to add...Ha! I see what you did there. Didn’t notice it was you at first.

Back to the future, sorta.

On the other hand, 6% isn't that big a deal. Is it?

Potential customers neither want nor understand an electric pick up truck.

Vehicles have two modes of desirability:
1. Utility
2. Curb appeal

Sure, people like Arnold Schwarzenegger will have one parked next to his Humvee and Jay Leno will have one in his garage, but will the building contractor have one? For $39000, a four cylinder Toyota Tacoma can be purchased and operated for half a decade. That is a lot of trips to the work site. Urban cowboys want something that is big. A truck bigger than anyone else on the road is what sells. They would not even go to a show room to look at Musk's rolling equivalent to a timber wedge.

If I had $39000, (which I never will), I would buy Volkswagen's electric microbus. Now that would be a cool electric utility vehicle.
