I was a USAF medic who occasionally "pulled" duty in the base Flight Surgeons office helping with (deployment physicals and shots). G.W. Bush was on flight status. I always believe in Rather's story.

Random drug testing was SOP for all those on flight status. G.W. was afraid to get tested and found positive for drugs and/or alcohol.

Easier to not show up if you had political connections than to get outed as a druggie on flying status deployable at a moment's notice during Vietnam.

Absolutely Bush shirked his job at the TANG, but just as absolutely, the sway of confirmation bias allowed a lapse of critical thinking to permit that fake memo to displace the actual story.

The BEST move for Team Trump at this point is to get some kind of similar "fake but true" piece of info into the circulatory system and then use that as an excuse for claiming "it's all fake".

I'm not saying this is it, but Mr. Parnas seems pretty doggone eager to have a spotlight shown on him, which might give one pause to be sure that he's not a Trojan horse. It's a pretty quick turnaround to go from Giuliani's corrupt footsoldier to hero of the resistance.
