WTF? ....U.S. Resumes Operations Against ISIS in Northern Syria

After a lull of several weeks, American troops and Syrian Kurdish fighters are once again conducting large-scale counterterrorism missions.

MANAMA, Bahrain — United States troops have resumed large-scale counterterrorism missions against the Islamic State in northern Syria, military officials say, nearly two months after President Trump’s abrupt order to withdraw American troops opened the way for a bloody Turkish cross-border offensive.

American-backed operations against ISIS fighters in the area effectively ground to a halt for weeks despite warnings from intelligence analysts that Islamic State militants were beginning to make a comeback from Syrian desert redoubts even though their leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, had been killed during an American raid on Oct. 26.

On Friday, American soldiers and hundreds of Syrian Kurdish fighters — the same local allies the Trump administration abandoned to fend for themselves against the Turkish advance last month — reunited to conduct what the Pentagon said was a large-scale mission to kill and capture ISIS fighters in Deir al-Zour province, about 120 miles south of the Turkish border.

“Over the next days and weeks, the pace will pick back up against remnants of ISIS,” Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie, the commander of the military’s Central Command, told reporters on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue security conference in Bahrain on Saturday.

...Erdogon to do a little cleansing...charging up his base at home.

In exchange, what did Trump get? Likely silence on what Turkish intelligence has re: Kashoggi (sp?) and Kushner's conversations with MBS on the topic. And probably some good will for Trump Tower Istanbul.

The Turkish zone was a strip something like 20 miles along the border.

This is 100 miles past that.

And people are constantly surprised that the Kurds will work with us even after the Great Betrayal, even if it means cooperating on something that helps them more than it helps us. As though the best course of action when hurt is to do something that hurts you and your families even more? (But as long as it makes you feel good, I guess it's worth it?)

5. Well that was successful. We handed an airbase over to the Russians and got the Kurds murdered off.

In the normal world, a collared suspect, once charged would get a single phone call. That suspect would have bail considered. If denied for something like "flight risk" or can't make bail, they'd be locked up and denied the right to make external choices of daily living outside of their cell. Likewise, POTUS so charged should be unable to issue "commands," requests to subordinate leadership, EOs, etc...without prior disclosure to the prosecution/judiciary. It's like giving the criminals, even through their attorneys, the right to order a "hit" against an individual, in this case, the UNITED States of America, down to the last citizen under civilian or military rule of law of said nation. What a mess - Yeah, he's the biggest stinking fish, but not the only one...
