Why the pro-impeachment polls went down?

The latest polls show that the number supporting impeachment had gone down by several points?

This was after two weeks of devastating testimony from experts and professionals and fact witnesses. How could that happen?

It happened because many people did not watch the hearings and many others were susceptible to the propaganda and lies that have been ladled out by this White House. It is not that surprising.

Democrats see the power of the Tweeter pulpit. They cannot compete with the propaganda from this White House. Even with the facts and truth on their side, they are having difficulty getting thru to those voters that have been sucked into the cult-think.

But, polls cannot be the guiding force for Democrats. They need to follow the facts and their consciences to come to a decision. They cannot bind themselves to the polls or to the fact that Republicans refuse to believe their own eyes.

Polls tend to change with the circumstances. There is no reason to believe they won't change again.

immediately wrote to my Dem congresswoman to send her my support, asked her to continue to the push, and said the politics be damned. Must do the right thing.

I am in complete agreement. Our reps must be led by their principles. Even if everything does burn to the ground, then we will have gone down on the side of right. Joyce Vance tweeted that the truth always comes out eventually. I gotta believe...

I wonder if a single person here on Democratic Underground has participated in a poll in the past year or two. I personally don't know anyone who answers the phone if it is someone they don't know and I haven't been solicited for an online poll in years. How on earth can they get a reasonable overview of the American public when so few people are answering their questions?

I would take these polls with a grain of salt. Also remember that support for impeachment of Richard Nixon did not come until toward the end. Of course, I am sure there were many holdouts even then.

I suspect it is because people feel the Senate will not vote to remove.

Be careful.

Anyway maybe the holidays are affecting them. Otherwise I am as dumbfounded as you.
