Abrams often cites the illegal purge we uncovered. And now, shes taking action. Her new group, Fair Fight, has hired the Palast team to update and expand our work to put before a court to overturn what we have dubbed, Georgias Purge by Postcard.
While the Palast Investigative Fund is thrilled with this new alliance, it only covers Georgia. We need to expose new, massive, illegal purges in Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Nevada and other states. Weve already filed preliminary legal actions in 20 states. Now we move to the expensive process of detailed computer analysis of each purge, voter by voter, more than a quarter million in each of these states.

(15,328 posts)Unless one or both are not really in the election to support real democracy.
It hasn't been hard to look at some prior candidates as being spoilers, but with good intentions.
Now I'm wondering if some candidates aren't really running just to subvert the whole process.
I know even putin doesn't have enough dough for this action. Perhaps some US and other multinational oligarchs wouldn't mind seeing a collapse of US government and regulations.

(2,572 posts)Our last presidential election had a veritable clown bus of idiot grifters on the republican side.
We don't want that three-ring mad house for our party.

My wish list is longer, but I'll leave it at this for now.

(16 posts)The OH voter purge story was barely covered by major media outlets not owned by nexstar. Dewine cares more about vape flavors than voting rights and gun reform

(811 posts)It's about time that a prominent Democrat took up the cause of fighting for fair elections. All the work and $$$ that the Democrats spend to run for elections and get people to vote for them is for naught when the deck is stacked against them from the start by means of voter suppression, election fraud, gerrymandering, social media interference, etc., etc.
I'm really happy that Stacey Abrams is taking this so seriously and is hiring Greg Palast to work on the cause. He's been doing this for years and years and he will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this effort. And yes, it sure would be nice of some of these billionaires would put their money into something so important instead of spending millions on presidential campaigns that are very unlikely to be successful.

(21,571 posts)years. He published an article on voter fraud and SCOTUS ruling in FL in the 2000 Bush v Gore election. Had to turn to the UK to get published in a Guardian subsidiary. US publications would not touch hrm..
Good investigator. Knows how to get through obstacles to find facts, connect dots, and hold feet to the fire.
Writing style is entertaining as well as factual. Sarcastic and biting in his ridicule of "the bad guys."

(2,538 posts)She might make an impact. With the revolutionaries as unwilling to cease and desist as they say they are, too many candidates leaves a crowd of losers when all is said and done. Shell make a fine veep or can win next time she runs for governor

(31 posts)Pod Save America podcast asked it's listeners to donation to Fair Fight. They set a goal to raise $1M and reached it. Fair Fight blocked the removal of 75,000 people from the voting rolls in Kentucky, which now has a Democratic Governor (by 5,000 votes).
Instead of counting on billionaries to fund this work, we should all be stepping up. (I have donated $150 to Fair Fight so far.) Until we take the machinery of elections as seriously as the campaigning we will continue to "lose" to crooked Republicans.
