again and again primarily to stir and to bait using aggressive insult and willful ignorance as weapons. They are not trying to convince or debate and they go well beyond obnoxiousness. But we all have our own criteria. No need for daily dose of overwhelming toxicity.

I'd just gotten sick of what was happening and tried that instead of leaving. Started with recidivist troublemaker sorts, but then also dumped as I ran into them others I felt dragged the level of discourse down and were making it hard to find thoughtful, fact oriented discussions.

It wasn't the real DU by a long shot, but it became a pretty good place to discuss politics. To see the real thing, just don't sign in, but did that maybe twice. For those repelled by too much reality about people or tired of wading through dreck in search of worthwhile posts, I strongly recommend it over giving up political forums altogether.

I removed all my ignores after the election and only have a handful of troublemakers on ignore. Seems to me this time around discourse is better. A lot more awareness about the forces working, including right here, to divide and defeat.
