6. Art Buckwald was great.

He worded and arranged these Nixon defenses to be funny but, believe it or not, quite a few of them actually were used by Nixon fans.

In some ways this reminder is reassuring . Variations of these lines are being used todsy by Trumpists. We know how it ended for Nixon in spite of his defenders. May Trump"s fate be even worse.

I was struck by the similarity of the original Buckwald list and was already "translating" them for our current situation when I scrolled down and saw the newer column.

And I agree - may his fate be worse - MUCH worse!!!! There's NO WAY I could ever see IQ45 ever being considered an "elder statesman" and being able to find solace in some of his actions. At the least, HIS actions should lead to 10 to 20, minimum!

There WERE some good things that Nixon had done: Relations with China - established the EPA.
Ironically, IQ45 is busy trying to screw those up!

Even Shrub, Jr. did at least one good thing in funding AIDS treatment in Africa.

Nothing this current horror in the WH does is positive or constructive. He is a roiling ball of hatred spewing his vile self out on the world.

What does concern me about today vs the Nixon years is that none of the Pubs today have a shred of courage --or desire-- to rein him in. I am not in the least surprised at the number of people in Congress who are being found complucit with this monster. I have suspected it for a long time, since at least 2016 when their leadership did not take a strong stand against him.

I have long believed that he and his Russian backers collected dirt on people to keep them in line. Now my suspicions about Pub party complicity are being confirmed. How much is due to coercion and how much is.voluntary I don'f know.
