As to 53% of republicans thinking Trump is better than Lincoln:

"SNIP.....

As of September 2019, Gallup polling found that 31% of Americans identified as Democrat, 29% identified as Republican, and 38% as Independent.[3]Additionally, polling showed that 49% are either "Democrats or Democratic leaners" and 44% are either "Republicans or Republican leaners" when Independents are asked "do you lean more to the Democratic Party or the Republican Party?"[3]

What is 53% of 29%? That is much less than the 37% who are hard Trumpers. So the poll is actually good news. Am I right?

based on Pa, Mich, Wiscy swing states.

[I suspect one thing we DUer's overlook in referring to trump support, is how much many voters are bothered by various Dem factions, and are slow to vote Dem].

That's been shown repeatedly. It's also roughly the percentage of sociopaths in the country. Some of that overlaps with the evangelicals. Most of the rest, the 20-25% that keep his numbers consistently around 40%, are GOP brand loyalists, and I suspect that support is soft.

The Confederate/Jim Crow/Klan-supporting Democrats left the Democratic Party, changing it for the better. They joined the Republican Party (due to Nixon's Southern Strategy) changing it for the worse.

Today's Republican Party isn't Lincoln's by any stretch of the imagination. The Republican Party now contains the descendants of the Civil War South Lincoln defeated. It's no wonder there are mixed feelings in the Republican Party about him.
