The evidence shows that President Trump holds a deep-seated, genuine, and reasonable skepticism of Ukraine due to its history of pervasive corruption, the Republicans write.

GOPers don't care if facts get in the way; they just want to provide an excuse for the people who are looking for one.

(630 posts)Former friend and drinking buddy.
Funny enough, he spoke Russian and had connections there reaching back to his college days, and he seemed quite enamored of the tough-talking, tough-drinking, rule-stretching ways of his buddies there.
It took a while for me to catch on, but he was an incessant liar. Lied at work. Lied to spouses and girlfriends (who always eventually became ex-spouses and girlfriends). Lied about his credentials. If we went to catch a movie, he'd always try to find a way to sneak in without paying or smuggle in egregious amounts of snacks or booze.
There was nothing about him that indicated this was due to any mental illness or deficiency. He was very practiced at it. And it drove me crazy that he seemed to lie even when lying wasn't necessary to get what he wanted.
Eventually I realized that at some point it life, it had simply become second nature to him. He couldn't understand a world where people relied on honesty, facts or integrity.
I think the GOP is full of people like that. Not to mention the world of billionaires, entrepreneurs and fund managers who bankroll them.
