It still amazes me that someone so smug and cocksure can simultaneously be so utterly insecure and perpetually furious.

It's a little thing that drives me crazy. I've worked in advertising for 40 years, a good deal of that time before Photoshop existed. Images were either "retouched" or "manipulated" by an air brush artist. An entirely new image could be created through double-exposure in the lightroom or by actually cutting and pasting two or more photos together.

Besides, there is other software out there besides Photoshop, such as GIMP. An image could just as easily be "GIMPED."

I prefer "digitally manipulated," an activity meant to deceive or harm. "Photoshopped" is too cute.

"Digitally manipulated" seems a little harsh given the shoddy editing and the silliness of the image (not meant to deceive), so I opted for informal.

I hear photoshop used as a verb all the time from professionals and non-professionals alike.

Like it or not, it's here to stay.

Merriam Webster:

photoshop verb, often capitalized

photoshopped; photoshopping; photoshops

Definition of photoshop

transitive verb
: to alter (a digital image) with Photoshop software or other image-editing software especially in a way that distorts reality (as for deliberately deceptive purposes)
