The war (Tribulations) will happen, many of them will be spared as they float up to Heaven, the Holy Land will be back under Christian and Jewish control. The Temple will be rebuilt for a third time, Zion established.

They see this assassination as a GOOD thing to perpetuate the second coming.

I think messianic and apocalyptic prophecy is mostly a problem in monotheistic religions.
