President Grover Cleveland is an example. In 1888, he was defeated in his bid for re-election by Benjamin Harrison. In 1892, he came back to defeat Harrison and win a second term.

It's only the office of the presidency that's protecting him from prosecution at this time.

No rule against non-consecutive terms, just a hard limit of two terms total. One imagines that losing a re-election bid would take the wind out of one’s political sails, however.

Just a question of which Trump. It's probable that the Donald will try to stay in office past 8 years and I am sure folks like McConnell and Graham will support that under the guise of his first term being "stolen" by the "phony witch hunt" but he will probably be forced in the end to cede to one of his kids.

2017, when anytime someone said something that caught the popular fancy on TV, an enthusiastic little crowd would call for that person to be our next president? This means about as much as that.

Supporting a completely unqualified game show host as president was terrible enough. Now they're supporting his completely unqualified offspring? Has Junior ever held a real job in his entire pitiful life?

for President a while back, and Oprah around that time as well. Things change a lot in just a few years, and the chance of those dolts ascending to high office seems quite certainly zero to me.
