...and rightfully so.

After the battering of the Iran and Iraq war...Iran began to rebuild, rearm, etc. at a lighting pace....faster that he could. So when hit with the prospect of the USA taking him out over his alleged WMD's...he kept the ruse up, because he thought letting Iran know he didn't have the weapons would invite another war that would decimate him. In the end, we all know what happened.

When we invaded Iraq, we basically had absolute air superiority....we don't in Iran. Iraq couldn't mess with the Gulf....Iran can. And this is the stuff that we do know.

..The S-300 defense system is live. The second, unlike Iraq, they do have an airforce.

Granted we can definitely overwhelm the system in time. But we may have some casualties in the process...and for what? Un-doing Obama's legacy?

Missiles will knock down their air defenses.

What we do not have are enough boots on the ground to hold anything but small islands. Think Afghanistan on steroids in that they can force project at will against anything which can not move.
