My greatest fear

For all the fear of the Trump creature, this is my greatest. His threat to destroy cultural sites in Iran.

The Taliban did this about a decade or more ago and were universally condemned for it.

But, evidently, Trump is an even greater barbarian than we thought he was. Every villain in history has slaughtered countless human beings, but has had no need or desire to destroy sites that represented the history of humanity. Ancient Rome and even Hitler didn't feel the need to destroy the pyramids.

But Trump seems to be a different species. His know-nothingness, his lack of norms, and his incredible historic ignorance are terrifying, considering that this is the guy with his finger on the nuclear button.

We'll never know why he's kicked off the current crisis. But it seems to me that, at some point, the Republican Party has to recognize that they are supporting a totally insane, crazed beast and will remove him from power.

Oh, sorry. I forgot for a moment that we were expecting the Republican Party to do something decent or sane. My bad.
