The link points out very little can be done about osteoporosis, scientist are now focused, in their studies, on one strong environmental risk factor leading to brittle and fragile bone density: Air pollution.
A new study led by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health whose findings appear in JAMA Network Open now suggests that poor air quality is associated with a lower bone density among aging populations.
"This study contributes to the limited and inconclusive literature on air pollution and bone health," says first author Otavio Ranzani, Ph.D.
....
They found that individuals who frequently experienced ambient air pollution especially by way of fine particles also seemed to have lower bone mass levels.
Ranzani hypothesizes that the link between poor air quality and poor bone health could be due to "the oxidative stress and inflammation caused by air pollution."
Someone refresh my fading memory - didn't Trump just relax air pollution standards because he said we have the cleanest air in the world (along with water).

(10,185 posts)In the mountains where factory and corporate farming has not yet taken a strong foothold. Also we have lichen everywhere which is an indicator of clean air.
The factories all shut down in 2008 and only a few businesses outside of farming exist.
But I still have to use limestone to neutralize acid rain which leeches calcium. So, where is there really NO pollution?

(70,127 posts)and "scientists" arent "focused", one scientist did a study. an interesting study. but there are tons of scientist out there focused on a cure.
