The Trump administration is seeking to delay a Democratic effort to require the Secret Service to disclose how much it spends protecting President Trump and his family when they travel — until after the 2020 election, according to people familiar with the discussions.

The issue has emerged as a sticking point in recent weeks as Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and key senators have been negotiating draft legislation to move the Secret Service back to his department, its historic home.

Mnuchin has balked at Democratic demands that the bill require the Secret Service to disclose the costs related to the travel of the president and his adult children within 120 days after it is passed, according to people with knowledge of the talks. Mnuchin has agreed to Democrats’ push for a requirement that the Secret Service report its travel expenses but wants such disclosures to begin next year.

In a statement, the Treasury Department confirmed that Mnuchin has been working with Secret Service Director James Murray and congressional committees on a bill to transfer the Secret Service from the Department of Homeland Security to Treasury, but did not address the dispute about the reporting requirement.

Is it us? Do they count on Democrats and other people of goodwill to not react?

The con lied about “the previous administration” sending Iran money that they used to buy weapons of war that they shot last night.

We just are giving him a pass on that lie, right?

We sat with eyes glazed over for nearly a year while they put Merrill Garland in a box.

What was our response? Did it stop the con from doing more damage?

What’s wrong with us. I’ve debated many many times here that we need to respond and am met with mostly ho hums and “the 2020 election will take care of him”

Meanwhile, our dear President Obama has been hammered and lied about and no body comes to his defense.

About the lack of response to Trump's actions, and the crazy belief that he might (officially) lose the election.

or they wouldn't be so afraid of having the voting public find out about it.

He isn't just spending taxpayer money with total abandon, he's making a little money for himself on the side.

Normally, at this point I'd make an obscene remark about Trump, but people are starting to complain.
