NO CREDIBLE EVIDENCE for an "$80 million bounty" on [Redacted]

So could we please quit treating Twitter bullshit and inflammatory rhetoric like actual news?

If you want to mong rumors, there are plenty of sites where people love crazy-ass extreme bullshit, the more inflammatory the better.

Just because an angry cleric called for such a bounty (based on a dollar for every Iranian) during a ginned-up rageful funeral oration DOESN'T MAKE IT REAL.

wearily,
Bright

or whether Trump himself believes it. The point is that it's going to frighten people away from Trump resorts and golf courses. Even if the threat of any kind of attack is .0000000001, why would anyone want to take a risk? Why would you want to be somewhere for pleasure and be always a little on edge? There are plenty of luxury resorts and hotels in this country, plenty of golf courses. I predict lots of cancellations. And that's a good thing.

Some seem so desperate for internet validation, they’ll post any rumor coming down the pike.

Besides the “bounty” story, I read on DU that 13 American troops had died last night (untrue), that “20 to 30” Americans were killed (untrue), that the Green Zone was hit last night (untrue), that Russians, Iraqis, Iranians, the US (pick one) took down the Ukrainian airplane, that there’s a huge cover-up to hide casualties from the missile attack...I could go on.

Now we can add people believing Iranian claims (since walked back by iran) that 80 Americans were killed, 200 wounded and the casualties were evacuated by helicopter (to where?) immediately after the attacks ended.

Last night was unreal with all the posts about casualties without a scintilla of confirmation.

Apparently none of these hair-on-fire posters gave a rat’s behind that there are DUers with family members in Iraq. Irresponsible, inexcusable.

Things like "They're gonna get wiped off the map" didn't really help the situation either.

But hey, Iranians are just faceless nobodies. Caring about them will be called "socialism" or something I'm sure.

and viewed/heard by millions. That does make it noteworthy and potentially dangerous still--when the emotional tenor of a powerful country and its people has been incited.

You seem to blame one or more DUers for commenting on this. While I agree with correcting the accuracy of the record without delay-- unless you believe the original poster was fluent in Farsi, was a member of the media that officially reports on all thing Iran and the region and thus should have known better, I find your "weary" complaint to be a bit self-serving. I didn't see the original post or posts, but really. I don't think the public callout towards whoever posted is necessary. Correct the record and let it go.

Far too many posters are posting stuff here that rivals Fox News, or other fake news sites (and getting grumpy when anyone points it out). At the moment there's at keast tgus this (posted by more than one person) and another proclaiming that Iran hit back hard - when all they did was identify a list of Trump properties.

We're waiting for three sources, photographic and video evidence, everyone making a signed statement and there has to be unanimous agreement as to what is going on, a notary public to put a stamp on everything, and Neal over in the corner taking down notes of what he sees.

Can say it's false... but at the same time, rumors and revenge tales serve a purpose for those against those in power, against oligarchy even. Because cocooning ourselves in and saying "We'll vote... until then just find something to bite down on" won't fix a dang thing.

When it is falsely reported that Americans died, how does it benefit us?

And as for rumors of a bounty on Trump's head deterring people from staying at his properties --- how many of his properties does he visit. He goes to Mar A Lago. He sometimes has dinner at his DC hotel, although I can't remember the last time he did that. He virtually never goes to NY.

People who weren't morally opposed to patronizing his properties aren't going to stop patronizing them because of some infinitesimal chance he might be there and it might be a target.

And posting unconfirmed rumors accomplishes nothing other than muddying the waters and making us look gullible.

We don't need to wait for three sources. One legitimate one would be adequate and Iranian State TV - used by some DUers to "confirm" the nonsense story about 30 American deaths - is not a legitimate source.
