(56,829 posts)that he didn't say the economy because most Trumpsters seemed programmed to say that
They're programmed to say the economy and low black unemployment, both of which were doing well under Obama before Trump took all the credit.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)One of Team Obama's weaknesses is that they did not go out and promote what they did do well. For all his faults and their faults, Trump and his supporters are consistentlly on message about the economy.

(9,197 posts)He's wearing a letter jacket -- almost certainly a high school letter jacket , and I think the 21 on his sleeve indicates that he will graduate in 2021. That would make him a high school junior, and 16 or 17. I doubt he will be eligible to vote in November, although I suppose he could have been held back a year or two, and will actually be 18 or older.

(82,849 posts)If he's a junior this year, there's a chance he'll be 18 by November, particularly if he had to, uh, repeat a grade or two during his scholastic career, and that wouldn't surprise me in the least.
Reporters should be ready to ask the follow-up questions if a Trump supporter actually comes up with an example of something they think he's accomplished. For example: "The stock market's up!" Oh, and how much stock do you hold? Ah, your blank stare is very reassuring.

Why even bother dressing up and going? It's just that cult feeling of power they all want. It's not trump they are even there for I think...
Everyone do your part to make this go viral!! This is who we are up against!

@Darktionary @VicBergerIV This is partly right. Im not a Trump supporter and I can name select few things. Nonetheless, I think the clip does highlight the fact that Trumps brand has taken on a cult-like attitude reinforced by Americas already strong partisan tribalism.

(4,103 posts)Trumptards would be spouting out all kinds of ridiculously bogus claims that Trump has made.
The Trumptards who show up to Trump's rallies pride themselves on being more brainwashed than North Koreans. they have memorized all the words to his greatest hits, and do not care if they've been debunked.

(9,600 posts)Hey Democratic politicians! These Trump guys will never vote for you!
Democratic Politicians make sure your voters are registered, don't let republicans kick your likely democratic party voters off of the voting rolls, and get your democratic voters out to the voting booths!
The Trumpers will never vote for a Democratic politician.

(15,290 posts)that the people who attend Trump rallies go for "the show". They like Trump because he says the kind of outrageous things out loud that they would never have the guts to say to anyone without the risk of being fired from their job or worse.

So my question would be -- are democrats reaching this 18-22 year old demographic ?
How do you reach them and make them realize how dangerous trump is. serious question.
personally when I was that age I had no interest in politics AT ALL.

(63,221 posts)and has no idea why he "thinks" the way he does. I am seeing this with some of my nieces and nephews. Well, actually, one niece in particular who is a Trump cheerleader. She is a sweet little 12 year old girl who "loves" Trump and "hates" democrats, but honestly, there is no conviction in her. She has no idea why she says what she does.
She is only parroting what her father (my sister's husband) says. It really makes me angry. Fortunately, the other 3 kids in that family never say a word, so I am not sure if they are buying it or not.
My other brother is raising two very bright liberal children who are well aware of the issues and can debate them (they are 15 and 17). I also have another brother who is somewhat middle of the road, but his wife has an issue w/ "liberals". As far as I know, their kids are not political yet.
