Will be posted in loving memory of my Uncle David, who passed away last night. He was Mom's youngest sibling, and the last of his generation. He had a wonderful, thunderous laugh that could shake a room to pieces. I loved to hear it, and be the cause of it.
I last saw him a week before Xmas, when he started home hospice. I made sure he smiled, shook with laughter, and knew he was loved.
He knew. See you all in the morning.

My condolences to you and yours.

(20,762 posts)...but I'm so glad you got to spend time with him and make him laugh. A good send-off.
When that kind of love goes back into the pool, it finds ways to return, and bless us all.

(34,195 posts)I worked a hospice unit in San Diego and often shared humor/jokes with the patients.
One coworker thought it out-of-place,
but the patients seemed to enjoy a laugh once in awhile.

(14,578 posts)I'm sorry for the loss of your Uncle David.
Since I've been a member here I have looked forward each week to LOL Cats. You know, life is hard. There are problems, losses, hurts, pain, all in the context of having to work hard each day.
Your LOL Cats is one of the things that I look forward to. We have five cats, and they are dear friends. Each one has made our lives so much richer. The pics you post of puppies, kittens, other young animals, and the beautiful birds - those things make everyone's life just a little bit easier.
They make me smile, and I'm quite sure I'm not the only one.
May you and your family be blessed, and please accept my fervent prayer that your Uncle David have eternal rest, and may perpetual light shine upon him!

(23,694 posts)About year ago, my last aunt passed away at the remarkable age of 102. She was my Mom' s sister. My Mom passed at only 62, so she lived 40 years longer than her. She was still bright, articulate and she always let you know where you stood. But she had a heart of gold and a big smile.
I only recount this as I see your Uncle was the last of his generation in your family. So too was my Aunt. Not only was it sad to say goodbye to her, but the realization that my siblings, me and my cousins were now the "Oldest Generation" was a bit of a hit of reality. She held that spot for so long, I think it made all of us think we were still youngsters.
Peace to you and your family.
