It creates many problems and solves none. This would be a good subject to shove the hell out of the Overton window about.
Let anyone vote on either documentation or oath/affirmation of identity and residence.
Alternately, actually make the Social Security card an identity medium like a sane country, and then vote on that card and oath or affirmation of residence.
Voter registration is a solution in search of a problem, and pretty much only exists to keep lawful voters from voting. It's time to get rid of it.

(34,136 posts)Boom! Problem solved. Ever registered voter has a picture ID which proves they are the person who is registered to vote.

(53,820 posts)volunteers doing data inputting. I've done phone-banking on campaigns from computer printouts with names, addresses, ages and phone numbers. There is cross referencing so duplicate registrations would raise red flags.
I wouldn't take that chance.
