This bears repeating. At the end of the interview last night, Rachel asked Parnas why he decided to speak out, his answer was chilling.
He said he felt he would be safer if he told what he knew. He was afraid of being murdered. This is how low Trump and his Republican cult have fallen. When Trump said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and get away with it, 5th Avenue was just an example.

(16,887 posts)This is exactly what I thought last night watching the interview.
I believe Parnas was telling the truth and his reason for talking, similar to Michael Cohen, is that it is to stay alive.
I believe Parnas was telling the truth throughout - except when it came to Robert Hyde....I think he was threading the needle and being very careful and telling a story that purposely distanced him from Robert Hyde and painted him as someone he doesn't really know and is an alcoholic who was on a week long bender. Possibly all true - but under clear advisement from his lawyer sitting next to him who is also trying to defend him of charges from the SDNY, he said what he did very carefully.
Parnas knows what happened to Jeffrey Epstein. He knows who and what is involved and he knows that he has a big bullseye on him from both Trump and Putin and his only chance of staying alive, even just for a little while is to sing like a bird.

(10,011 posts)Its no accident that Firtash, Russian oligarch and mobster, funded this operation. I hope this all breaks open, but Im hesitant to do a victory dance yet. Trump has skated on any number of issues that should have brought him down. But so long as most of the media treat him as just a harmless president who does things differently, public opinion will not change. Hats off to Rachel for going after and nailing this interview. We need more such exposes because the corrupt Trump administration will do nothing. Its a sad commentary on the state of our government when there is no one left who will actually investigate and enforce the law. AG Barr is just as corrupt as Trump and will prevent the FBI from investigating anything.

(42,770 posts)him directly on tape/paper? Closest we have is the infamous phone call with Zelenski and overheard call at that wine lunch. This indicates a criminal mind right there. And picking his personal atty to do his dirty business as well. Hopes of declaring client/atty privilege. Probably thinking "let THEM prove it was related to a crime, I can tie that up for years, and I've got my boy Kavenaugh as blocker."

(21,360 posts)even if it's just in the House. No way Trump can claim executive privilege since Trump claims he knows nothing about Parnas. If he claims executive privilege he is admitting to dealing with Parnas.

(42,770 posts)For Parnas documents before they turned over articles. But there is no mention of Parnas in the actual articles? And that makes him off limits during Impeachment trial? He has to be subpoenaed & under oath? If House does that, how does it get to Senate?
gab13by13
(21,360 posts)but even if it can't be included in the trial it will serve a purpose if it is publicized to the world and to Senate Republicans up for reelection. We need a legal scholar here to see if Parnas' testimony can be added as an addendum.
Also, do you trust Bolton to testify and tell the truth? I wouldn't put it past him to lie under oath. He could be a false flag operation. I put nothing past these bastards.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)Would look like with zero witnesses. Just yapping only worst than House hearing? Evidently that won't happen. But let's just say they won't let Sondland testify, for example. Would it be like in court, his info is not admissable to even talk about it?
Hell no I don't trust Bolton. My guess is he will thread the needle just like Sondland did. Admit to some of it but not all. With Sondland, remember he said trump only concerned about Burisma (and not Biden). That way they can prop up the idea that trump after corruption only. This was despite what the eye witness at the wine lunch said and they trashed him.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)answering and no followup asked. But gather we are at the mercy of a majority of the Senate as to whether Parnas is called or not. Legal expert on CNN said they (GOP) wants to act more like an appeals court (look at evidence from house only) than a trial court where more and new evidence can be added. Perhaps only way to do it is to reconvene house Impeachment and create amended articles? Time!!!! All takes time.

(4,341 posts)they continue to support and defend the con, they are afraid for their families and their own lives.
I repeat, WE HAVE A MAFIA ADMINISTRATION, the con has never understood about consequences and I do believe he would shoot someone on 5th Ave if he thought it would help him at the moment because he cannot see what happens beyond the moment of his actions.
Parnas knows Putin will try to kill him, and he knows that the con (Putin's lapdog) will follow orders from Putin because he doesn't care what happens to anyone but himself.
I hope that GOP members who have been threatened understand that the best way to protect their families and themselves is to come out and tell all. If they all come out and tell all at the same time they won't be able to do anything to them.

(2,596 posts)When you've got a Bill Barr involved in the same plot they've got you running, you've got a pretty compelling reason to just spill the beans on everyone's involvement in this cabal and do it as publicly as humanly possible. It's tantamount to writing a letter to someone and sending it to them with the message printed on the envelope, "In the event of my death or disappearance".

I'm still waiting for the shady gas deals to be exposed, that's why Rick Perry was involved. She most likely would have been a road block to those corrupt gas deals.

Letsenko seems to have been the origin of wanting her out of Ukraine.
Then their elections happened, Zelinsky came aboard, and Team Rudy had to restrategize. They were no doubt counting on Letsenko to get the "Burisma/Biden" train rolling.
At least, that's how it seems to me, today.
