Lots of people, from Representative Nunes right up to Donald J. Trump, have said they didn't really know Lev Parnas or anything about what he was doing. That, despite photos showing them being very friendly with the man, who has multiple photos of just about everyone standing and smiling with him, right up to Ivanka Trump.
Disavowing knowledge of someone you were clearly associated with is dangerous. That's especially true if your relationship with that person involved illegal or immoral activities. The person you're disavowing might take umbrage from your denial of the relationship. If that umbrage is serious enough, you might well see that person on TV, spilling the very beans you were trying to hide.
That person might also have written communications demonstrating that you knew them and were directly involved in the nefarious activities you're also trying to deny. They might hand over such evidence to prosecutors or even Congress.
It's dangerous to dump your old friends when your friendship involved lawbreaking. You never know when those old friends will feel hurt by your denials that you knew them. They might just blow the whistle on you and back it up with evidence. That's a lesson you should have learned way back in your childhood, folks.
Keep your friends close, or they might just turn into enemies. Just saying, Donald, Devin, Rudy, et al.

(115,734 posts)He regularly denies having said something even though it's been recorded and probably broadcast publicly. Multiple photos of him with Parnas or any other disreputable character aren't proof of anything in his world because he "gets his picture taken with lots of people." The WH line will now be that Parnas made it all up just to make it look Trump knows him, but he really doesn't, not at all. Parnas is just a guy who photobombed Trump at some events but they aren't really acquaintances and Parnas never worked for him, or Giuliani, nope, not at all. He's just some guy.
Problem is, Parnas has proof...

(9,670 posts)Which means the parties denying knowing Mr. Parnas have no idea what additional proof he holds in abeyance.
Which is currently the greatest contributory cause of TSS (tightened sphincter syndrome) among every member of the GOP today.

(47,501 posts)For someone who has such thin skin, he is oblivious to how other people will react when he denies a relationship with them. Does he honestly believe that he is the only person on the planet who will retaliate when he feels slighted or injured? He gives people reasons to expose him, especially people who have nothing to lose. Trump is not only a terrible president, he is a god-awful crook as well.
