Impeachment and REMOVAL

Just taking a moment to think ahead to a future with Conviction in the Senate.

So is removal immediate? You would have to know as the days progress and the signs indicate that the Senate could vote to remove the president then vice President pence moves to more of something like “ President elect“.

Does he get sworn in?

Just seems like it could be a moment of governmental disarray.

1. I wouldn't get too excited about it but....

Upon announcing the results of the vote, the chief justice would immediately swear in the new potus.

It would be immediate. Then there could be a second vote to forbid the convicted from holding any future office, but that would take only 51 votes.

Without that second vote, he could still run for office again.

Upon removal, all trappings of the office would be removed. He wouldn't be entitled to pension, library, or arlington/state funeral.

It would be a shit show. Nobody would know what to do because it has literally never happened. It's not like a judge who would simply not be allowed back into his office. Trump literally lives at the wh. He has ss protection. He has papers and documents. He may have significant treasury assets.

he resigned, of course.

point is, it's hardly the first time one person and their family and stuff have all been in the white house one day and then gone the next.

Including a transition plan to ford. It was very orderly and cooperative. Just like the usual change of admins.

He even left in marine 1.

That won't be the case with a conviction. Trump could very well refuse to leave. He could pardon everyone just before the vote, including whites in federal prison. He could take af-1 overseas just before the vote.

All kinds of crap could happen. Tat's why I said it would be a shit show. Necessary. But not clean. Hopefully seeing the ss drag him out to a waiting taxi would be televised.

2. Removal is a Presidential first that I'd like see Trump achieve.

He's done everything humanly possible to deserve it.

4. My assumption is that a removal order for a President, which has never occurred,

would include wording to the effect of "the President is immediately removed from office, and the Vice President will be sworn in as President at once."

So, yes, removal would be immediate, and the VP would be sworn in immediately. Then, the removed President would be physically removed from the White House if he had not already left the premises. He would no longer be the President and would thus have no business in that building.

5. as a practical matter, this is a really, really unlikely scenario

in the already very unlikely scenario that the vote count looks like it's gonna be for removal, mcturtle would hold up the process long enough for donnie to resign.

the formal removal scenario is just so much worse for republicans politically, i can't see them going that route.
