FBI investigators visit Robert Hyde's home and office

Avon, Connecticut (CNN)FBI investigators went to the home and business of Connecticut congressional candidate Robert Hyde, who has been caught up in the scandal about efforts to remove US Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch from Ukraine on Thursday.

The agents were seen by CNN and their presence was confirmed by a law enforcement official. They were at the home early Thursday morning in Weatogue, Connecticut, before going to Hyde's business in nearby Avon.

Hyde runs both his landscaping company and his campaign headquarters from the office. The investigators did not answer questions as to Hyde's whereabouts or why they wanted to speak with him. No other details were provided.

Text messages show Hyde was involved in efforts to surveil and remove Yovanovitch from her post in Kiev.

NBC News has confirmed that FBI agents were at the home and business of Robert Hyde in Connecticut this morning, a senior law enforcement official says.

The official says that they were not conducting a court-authorized search but did not elaborate on the reason for the visit.

MORE DETAILS: A neighbor who spoke to NBC News says the FBI agent was outside Hyde's home before dawn this morning and left around approximately 10:30am this morning. The neighbor did not spot the agent entering Hyde's home.

27. Hyde wouldn't have just been freelancing this. He was looped into this.

How would he have known about what the plot was if he wasn't privy to that information? He's too much of a loose cannon and gadfly to have been "read in" to this unless they were eyeing him as a person they could throw into the wood chipper - or point the blame on - if/when this blew up in their faces. They needed a fall guy and I think he was going to be their man.

Actually, he may have been becoming too much of a problem several months ago when he was corralled by the Secret Service and turned over to the authorities, then placed by the county under involuntary psychiatric observation. He may have been sniffing around and being to eager to "serve", and Barr had tRump report him so that he could be picked up and "observed" so they could later discredit him if need be.
