I've made jokes on here before about Lindsey Graham's blue dress. And I've had people who wanted it deleted.
How did Graham turn from being a somewhat John McCain pal into a mindless wingnut?
Graham's "secret" is an "open secret" in D.C.
So my question here is about any possible photos, videos, whatever.
His voters in the bible belt of South Carolina are either brain dead or don't care about Graham's sexual orientation. What sane person does?
So it seems his closet has protected him forever in his home state.
But Graham coming out as such a pro Trump maniac means that something has changed. Sorry, but to my way of thinking that "something" might be photos or videos.
Please don't be offended by this post. It's not about orientation. It's about hypocrisy and a horrible person who should be kicked out of office by his bible belt voters.
And by the way, Lindsey, if you want to sue me for slander because of this thread, bring it on. I'm sure many of your voters would be shocked, shocked by the allegation I'm making here.
And for any DUer who thinks this post is insulting to LGBTQs, sorry, but Graham is a menace who needs to be outed from the closet and the senate. Anyone who has done as much damage as he has deserves to be dealt with on terms that even the most radical bible beating Republican will understand.

(32,086 posts)I saw one report that had him accepting at least $800 K worth of them. Might even be some human trafficking involved, as that seems to be a trend associated with large numbers of people in Trump's circle.

(14,764 posts)I'm not really a fan of the ends justify the means.
They have dirt on all the gop leaders. It's not just Lindsay. But I don't think outing somebody is the right way to go.
Not flaming you. Just mho.

(25,471 posts)What he decides to do in that regard is his personal decision and not for others to decide. Politics has nothing to do with it.
As for his "open secret", if it's so open, then one would presume that his constituents are aware of it. Your assertion that it's obvious undercuts your assertion that his constituents are oblivious.

(2,052 posts)and to put the fine point on it that I hope you meant:
Graham should be free to be who he is, whether that's gay or straight, closeted or open. It should not figure at all in whether or not he should continue as a senator, in the bible belt or anywhere.
He should, however, be voted out for being a feckless, ineffective suck up who represents the president first, himself second, and the people last.

(11,738 posts)I understand what you are saying and that you are not implying that Graham's sexual orientation is or should be a problem. I simply disagree that it is an actual issue that is dictating his actions.
I agree more with the interpretation that was floated on DU this past week or so where his disposition was described as enthralled with and seeking power, that he cannot exhibit by himself.
The person said that Graham's attraction to McCain was that McCain yielded a great deal of power in the Senate and had a powerful presence. Once McCain was gone, Graham needed to attach himself to another new source of power which was Trump. Unlike McCain who had some semblance of humanity and did not just use people, Trump will use and abuse Graham and throw away the carcass. Graham may also be directly implicated in the corruption of Trump but that is because that is how Trump wants it. Trump wants everyone to be a little dirty so that there would be less desire for anyone to snitch.
Graham certainly needs to be removed from office and receive consequences for anything criminal that he has done, but his personal life should remain his personal life.

(16,616 posts)And legend has it that Graham changed "overnight" after a game of golf with Trump. He felt special. Very special, probably in a way even hanging around with McCain couldn't make him feel. "The president of the United States wants to play golf with me."
My impression from Woodward's book is that Graham is intoxicated by the idea that he's one of the guy's the president calls late at night to bounce ideas off of. During these conversations Graham gives a lot of advice--advice that Trump actually takes (or at least used to take). That has to be serious juice for somebody who wants to be important. In some people, this can cause a kind of addiction.
Just my thoughts.

(11,738 posts)We will notice a pattern throughout his career of him positioning himself near people with power. He wants it so bad, but he is ultimately a coward and cannot project his own power.

(16,616 posts)He's definitely tried, like during the Kavanaugh proceedings. Mostly, he was ridiculed.
By the way, I totally agree that his personal life should be his. I never liked the idea of "outing" anybody.

(32,626 posts)that would seriously eff up his life..but then.. what about all the others? I understand they all feed at the same trough, but is that enough? Do they really think that crimes are okay, as long as they are the ones committing them? Silly question. Guess they like what they're doing to this country.
