Putin's entire govt quits, but it is not on the news, why?

https://www.vox.com/2020/1/15/21066985/russian-government-resigned-putin-constitutional-reforms

https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/15/europe/russian-government-resigns-vladimir-putin-reforms-intl/index.html

"It’s not every day an entire government resigns, but that’s what happened in Russia on Wednesday as President Vladimir Putin announced plans for major constitutional reforms that could extend his grip on power long after his term in office is supposed to end."

"Putin’s plan for staying in power past 2024 “has been in the works for years,” Alina Polyakova, president of the Center for European Policy Analysis, told me. “It’s not a power grab, it’s a plan to ensure that Putin de facto remains in power for life.”

The only places I found the story are in Asia times and the Guardian.

If a regular news watcher blinked, they missed it. trump's been slipping in his desire to stay in office like puttin over and over, and it's not getting picked up on either.

It's basically Putin assuring he stays in power. It's probably more news worthy if he fails, because this is currently SOS in modern day Russia.

Most westerners are not in the know as to what just took place, or what it means. Also, we're up to our eyeballs with here in the US trying to teach our citizens how our own government is supposed to work. Who has time to go to school and attempt to teach them about how Russia's does?

Exhaustedly,
Cats

Against the firehose of other news to take-in. Can’t speak for news outlets, but for myself, I haven’t been prepared to discuss it, yet, as I struggle to understand why they’d resign only to be reshuffled into new titles in order that putin achieve perpetual power (I have theories that aren’t worth sharing without more info). Guess I’ve kind of been waiting for more coverage to unfold.

Also, I haven’t been able to discern how the timing of how or if the resignations could purposely coincide with the timing of US news/impeachment/Parnas this week. Why did the russian govt take this step, this week?

And, whew, what a week it’s been! I suspect it’ll be a more prominent news topic tomorrow?!

Has been an open loop running in the background of my mind since I heard about it, and I’d like to know more about what’s going on there.

after a vote of confidence fails, the government falls.

Italy has literally had years where they had 100+ governments in a year,

Churchill's comment about Stalinist Russia still applies somewhat - a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.

At least several times Putin and Medved traded offices. I'm still not sure what Medved's motivation in resigning his government was about, and then two days later Putins says, "you can't quit, you're fired."

Putin is doing what Trump would like to do, be dictator for life. Fortunately for us Trump doesn't have Putin's skill set.
