Democrats are right to challenge McConnell's rules up front.

If they can't find a compromise, this could take a while.

The problems need to be resolved before they continue.

Democrats cannot accept any trial as "fair" if documents and witnesses are not permitted.

Democrats must confront McConnell on his proposed rules.
