Extreme partisanship has such a bitter taste...

...it's like a persimmon before the frost falls on it.

Tonight they are all tired. This is just a taste of what is to come, if they cannot reach a compromise.

But, compromise would require them to reach some sort of agreement.

Both McConnell and Schumer are like two old persimmons. They hate each other.

However, in order to come to some sort of a win-win situation, they have to declare some sort of truce.

Otherwise, it's difficult to envision many happy endings to this story.
