2. I have been thinking about the "moderate" Repubs, and there may be a strategy here.

Odds are that I am wrong, but it is possible that the moderates do not want to "break" too early. This would bring enormous pressure on them for the entire trial. They may want to wait until a crucial vote demands that they break ranks, or even for the final vote.

For the others, there is no hope anyway and never was.

4. I wish this could be true.

However, I do not see any of the Guardians Of Putin breaking ranks when this current strategy has been working so well for them. Why would they?

5. There ARE no "moderate republicans".

I see no evidence that they are ALL anything but bought-and-paid-for mules; some are just more stubborn about carrying tRump's baggage. They all carry it anyway, just so they can get their oats. No hope for any of the scoundrels.

6. You know what? I am an eternal optimist, deep in my heart and brain I have been thinking the same

I have this little optimism that keeps telling me that when the vote comes to remove the rat from office four or five of them will come through.

8. Who are moderate Republicans? They're as real as unicorns and bigfoot

Anyone who breaks ranks will be punished in the primaries. So maybe it could be anyone who is planning to retire soon or isn't up for reelection for some time who might want to be a maverick.

We need 67 Senators to vote to remove the president. That's very unlikely to happen, but it would be sweet to get over 50.

Cory Gardner. Colorado is a very "purple" state and does NOT like extremism (we have one Democratic senator and one Republican). I am sure he is up for re-election. Colorado is also a fairly educated and sophisticated state, especially in the larger communities on the Eastern Slope. Cory had better weigh his decisions carefully.

Murkowski. Didn't she run as an independent, or write-in candidate, and win? The Republican party has not done her a lot of favors.

Commentators have mentioned a few others.

13. Hickenlooper can defeat Gardner this year

Collins will definitely vote with the rest of the GOP and Sara Gideon can defeat her this year

Murkowski could be a possible choice since she isn't up for reelection until 2022. She's no fan of Trump. Romney might be another possibility.

It hasn’t happened yet.

Likelihood, ok. But the countless “we’re doomed’ threads miss this fact.

Lets see, what character attributes does the con have that match with your statement?

MURDERS --> The kids on the border who have died would be an exhibit for the prosecution, and the Iranian general
RAPISTS --> Yeap, he is being sued, or was sued by a woman who claims he raped her when she was only 13 years old and the journalist that also is suing him.
Terrorists --> Lots of his actions could be placed in a "terrorist" bucket.
Pedophiles --> See RAPIST
sexual predators --> 37 law suits from women who claim he abused them.
republicans --> and well, its hard to match all of the above and not be a republican.
