Oooh, Jason Crow just PULLED RANK. Let me explain how.
The Senate is supposed to SIT DOWN AND LISTEN. Reporters have noted that Senators have been taking *liberal* breaks. (We can't see on TV).
Crow just asked Roberts to WAKE UP and notice that, asking if they needed a break.
Crow didn't need or want a break, and neither did the Senate. Crow was trying to wake John Roberts up, and ask him to demand... well "DECORUM."
Remember Roberts allegedly cares about decorum? Well, then it's on ROBERTS to make Senators follow their rules.
#ImpeachmentTrial
If you want a movie analogy, that was as CLOSE as Crow could come to pulling a Daniel Kaffee, telling Colonel Jessup "sit down, I'm not done yet."
#ImpeachmentHearings
It's little stuff like this where people who are paying attention will notice Roberts's bias. Most people are *committed* to declaring Roberts well-meaning, even when he's demonstrably not, but when he refuses to enforce the rules the Senate itself agreed to, it looks bad on HIM.

(13,570 posts)Reportedly, many Republicans have left the room for extended periods.
No court in the country would allow jurors to get up and walk out as they please.
he is a ... republican.

The "Roberts Court" - if there is history will be remembered as when this experiment was dismantled.

(2,116 posts)unfortunately from Blackburn's state and I have views on these people that fox is coddling. I explained it to my 80 year old mother,, she called me back and omg you are right,, If I post my observations here,, I'll be considered a sexist. I actually am not, Im just an old guy who believes in this country. All I will say right now is look up pics of Marsha Blackburn,,Pam Bondi. And I have had to see Marha's ads over and over again. And numerous others ,including this so called spirtual advisor Dumpy just hired. One common thing I see, A cross on a necklace, but the chain is JUST long enough to point brains to,hmm to see the cross. Please dont dump on me,, I just see little things in life that bother me.

(91 posts)You are right in observing this and it is not indicative of sexism to notice it. For a long time now the cross has been used and abused to represent everyone from Madonna writhing on the floor "like a virgin" wearing a crucifix, to tough guys toting AR-15's with crosses tattooed on their arms or engraved on their rifles, to Pam Bondi, Marsha Blackburn, et al decorating their cleavage. And then there are the white crosses burning in the night to terrorize folks of the wrong color or wrong sympathies. It is shameful and offensive.
for reading between my lines,, much respect,, you got what I was saying

(7,261 posts)Disagree with the reason. GOP only uses religion to keep us divided and divert our attention.
They are committing a fascist coup right in front of our eyes, inch by inch and week by week.
The only thing that will stop it is if/when we hit the streets.

(10,952 posts)Welcome back glad that you could join us for the Impeachment Trial. or request that Roberts call for the return of the MIA Rethugs to the chamber.
The Rethugs may be trying to hide their behavior but the Democrats can point it out in a way that they kill them with kindness.
Even better, have some staff members use their cell phones to capture videos of what the Rethugs are doing and use it in campaign ads.

House manager Jason Crow noted the seeming disregard of senators, asked Roberts if they should take a 15 minute break. McConnell stood and said the Senate would take a half hour break at 6:30 for dinner. Crow continued, but several senators stood up and left as he resumed. 29/

It would be great if some journalist were tracking their comings and goings in violation of the rules.

Back to the ~vibe check~ thread:
If I had to describe the vibe of the Senate right now in one word, it would be "antsy." Senators sitting in their seats are fidgeting. At least a dozen senators stood up and milled around within the room while I was in there. 26/

At one point, Booker walked over to where Klobuchar and Coons sit. He leaned over their chairs with one hand on each like a proud parent in a family photo. Klobuchar looked up at him and smiled. I couldn't tell if Coons knew he was there. 27/

I've been keeping an eye on Bernie, because he's one of the more restless senators. He was rubbing his head a lot for the first few minutes I was there, before leaving the chamber for an extended period of time. He's one of the senators who leaves more frequently. 28/

(17,918 posts)They don't care about the country. They don't care about justice. And that includes Roberts. They care only about themselves. They're nothing but fascist enablers. History will not be kind to them. Our democracy didn't end due to a foreign invader. It fell due to selfish bastards and the propagandized morons they represent.

(7,429 posts)CSPAN is angry right now that they cannot use their cameras in the Senate for the trial. Moscow Mitch is the only one who is controlling the cameras. That is why you have reporters who cannot talk to Senators as they normally do. This is why reporters are not allowed to show pictures of their own in the Senate - no cameras allowed. Moscow Mitch is trying to hide everything. I cannot wait to see that man voted out of office!
