From my 90-year-old mother

Got an email today from my mother, who is heading to 91 later this year. Sharp as a tack. Here’s how she ended the email:

Are you watching the hearings? I want that fool out of office. He absolutely disgusts me. All these years after his election, it boggles my mind that he still has followers. What is wrong with people??

BTW, she is a former New Yorker so knew of the buffoon for decades

It scared me at the time however it turns out he is far worse than I ever thought. 3 short years later and we are in danger of losing our Democracy, our Country and our way of life.

I’m going to be 70 in November and plan to be still here and raising hell in twenty years.

Reminds me of a lady I saw at a women’s right’s protest years ago. She was sitting in a wheelchair and had a sign that said “97 and still outraged”.

She passed away 8 years ago. Never did master e-mail or computers but had her great-grandkids handle that for her since she lived near them.

She and I talked on the phone often. She was horrified in 2000 when Bush II was selected and again when he was "elected" in 2004. She mistrusted his economic policies and warned about a crash. Said she lived through one depression and did not want to see another.

When the market collapsed in 08 she said, "I knew it! That GD SOB!"

Mine in her early 90's before she reposed would gather the latest news and report to me. When she saw shrub's face or heard him speak--ut oh. Could not stand him. So annoying.

But, Barack. Hoo boy. 😍

My parents gave me their legacy of being a true blue Dem.💙

10. Yup - Early exposure to the "buffoon" heightens contempt for him.

Anyone growing up in the NYC area had his/her fill of him by the time he rode the golden escalator. It was quite stunning to realize that the rest of the country wasn't really aware of him until The Apprentice put him in the limelight. For this, I blame Mark Burnett.

YAY for your mom!

I didn't and I knew he was despicable years ago.

the person questioned stated they had not heard of Chump before The Apprentice, and that their impression of him was positive because he was <portrayed as> such a successful businessman. You were, I'm sure, in the minority.

I have never watched The Apprentice or even seen a clip of it. I formed my opinion of him when hearing about how he cheated on his wife and how he treated her. That was enough info for me to know what a scumbag he was.

I have two degrees in human behavior with thirty-five years of working in positions that required I have a good instinct about people, was brought up by two parents who taught me what propaganda is and how to recognize it and who constantly drilled into my head to be a leader and not a follower. My parents weren't always the best but they sure did get a lot of things right.

She is horrified at Trump and the Republicans. She’s sad to be leaving this world to her kids, and says she’s not going until she can vote in November.

but she has dementia, and can't follow the impeachment It saddens me as she was a very strong Dem who wanted to see a woman president before she dies.

Kudos to your mother!

My 90 year old mother is the exact opposite of yours, infected by both Trumpism and Evangelical Christianity. I love her and would love to spend more time with her but I can hardly stand to be around both her or my brother, who has stage 4 cancer and a heart so damaged, they can’t even put a stent in.

But just knowing they are deeply into that rot makes it hard to be close. And they don’t always honor our agreement not to discuss politics or push her religion on me. When they let loose it’s obvious they are they kind of people I wouldn’t have anything to do with, if they weren’t related.
