From wiki

Schiff was born in Framingham, Massachusetts, the son of Edward and Sherrill Ann (Glovsky) Schiff.[1] He was raised in a Jewish family, and moved to Danville, California, during high school.[2] He graduated from Monte Vista High School in 1978[3] and received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Stanford University in 1982 and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1985.[4]

After law school, Schiff served as a law clerk for Judge William Matthew Byrne Jr. of the United States District Court for the Central District of California.[5] From 1987 to 1993, he was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Office of the United States Attorney for the Central District of California.[6] While in this position, Schiff came to public attention when he prosecuted the case against Richard Miller, a former FBI agent who was convicted of spying for the Soviet Union.[7] The first trial resulted in a hung jury; the second trial resulted in a conviction that was overturned on appeal.[8] Miller was convicted in a third trial.

I've heard it in variations, but Schiff's version shows the relentless, vulgar banality and casual cruelty as "policy." A whole new way of seeing chronic corruption.

How any of the Republican senators can remain unmoved, I can't understand.

All he can do is appeal to their highest morality. "Do you want to know the whole truth, now? Do you want to know how broad this scheme was? " Only eventually? Or now? It is within your power to do so. Because the public has a right to know."

Schiff is the embodiment of politics as an art.

Rosenberg has not served as Senator and McCaskill has, so the fact that she was much more open to the notion was unexpected. He did make good points about the dangers, but her thoughts were that it would be a case of obvious attempts at a cover-up which might warrant stepping out of line.
