(23,343 posts)It seems normal in the corporate world, why not in the entertainment world (or news world, maybe).
Anyway, it pleases the hair product industry.
It also annoys me that they are all so young.

Usually I don't even look at the hair styles of people on the news - but then my hair style is to grow my hair as long as possible, wash my hair every other day, let it dry on it's own, brush it when people might see me, and trim it wil my paper scissors every six months (or when I notice it is uneven).

She reminds me of a woman I almost married.
(I just wish she wasn't an ex-repuglikan.......)

(10,885 posts)When her show first started, she had a cute face-framing bob. She's now let it grow out, and it looks awful. It literally drags her down.
Alex Witt needs a good cut STAT! Her current style is way too young for her and she just looks unkempt.
Two that have recently bucked the trend are Natasha Bertrand and Ashley Parker. As they've become more prominent, they've both sharpened their look and it makes them appear less "the college kid" and more the professional reporter. It's been fun to see their transformation.
But you're right: "lock step" for all the others.

(13,571 posts)She's so prominent a reporter that getting some advice would likely be a good investment.
New mom, too. And that sure limits her time.
She has a beauuutiful smile.

(2,227 posts)There is NO specific look that has been defined as "professional".
Look at it from a women's point of view.
Shorter hair is just that, short. Cute and adorable! And easy!!! Other than a few basic styles, there is not much you can do with it. I suppose you could "spike" it. THAT would look really professional.
Women with longer hair have so many more options. When I see a woman that I think falls into the "stunning" category, more than likely they have longer hair.
They also have lives other than work lives, and want different looks. More power to them. And age has nothing to do with a woman's hair length.
Men have a long way to go to catch up, but we are working on it. Face it, man buns are here to stay.
As far as hair goes, for both women and men, WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY, BABY!

(13,783 posts).. their choice. It's too uniform. I think the men controlling those newscasts are requiring this look.

(25,586 posts)is simply whats popular at the moment and what women who want to look fashionable gravitate toward. Like guys and beards; nobody had a beard and now suddenly everyone has a beard. Thats fashion. Im not going to assume that these women are being browbeaten into hairstyles without some evidence pointing that way.

(11,770 posts)THAT is what is annoying. What other women's hairstyles do they find annoying? Joy Reid recently went to a more traditional black women's hairstyle, is that also annoying? These OP's about women's choice of style have all been veiled in 'extreme concern' for the women they're dogging.

(2,367 posts)but I don't pity them all the time they (or a hairstylist) has to spend to get it to look that way! What you see on screen is a LOT of time blowing it out, flat irons, highlights etc. I know this because I'm a beauty school dropout

On the men, too.
I dont care. I get my news here on DU so I dont really see any of them. Why? Because when I turn on the tv I run the risk of seeing photos of Rump, or worse, a video of him talking. That tends to immediately ruin my mood.
