I went to a homeless symposium today

Went to get dental help.a filling, but found out two root canals in two teeth that were side by side that I had done years ago had failed. Not only did they fail there was a big abcess under the the teeth that had to be pulled out of my jaw.
I am thankful to have it caught before it killed me or messed up my heart.

Doctors and dentists need to stop the bullshit feud started in the 1800s ,As in everything above the neck goes to barbers/dentists and neck and below doctors fix.

Dentists do medicine, dental problems affect things below the neck. Dentists very well could have saved my life today. Time to have dentists in emergency rooms and dentists need to be part of the field of medicine proper. They save lives. I'm sitting here, took my Cipro took my Motrin with an icepack on my jaw thankful this infection was caught in time. Glad I was even able to see a dentist.

And I agree that dentists are doctors. Dental care should be covered under Medicare and it is not. Dental insurance is too expensive for what you get, so we are retired and we pay our dentist ourselves. We get a senior discount of 10%, but for anything more than a routine exam or cleaning, it gets pretty pricey. I have two old fillings that need to be replaced, which means two crowns, and I don't happen to have $1,500 or $2,000 hanging around right now. We had our sewer line back up with tree roots in November and needed to replace it completely. Man, life can be expensive, can't it?

Take care of yourself Panther.

and just having a tooth extracted without sedation due to intense pain literally hours ago as this is posted, I can vouch for this. Also is due to have more teeth removed with sedation, but the state I live in NC decided not to expand Medicaid and continues to make it near impossible to get and more importantly maintain. You have to literally go into medical debt to get it. Absolutely the wrong message to be sending, but the Alabamaification of North Carolina continues.

Dentistry needs to be covered 100% for the basics for everyone. So many people suffer for years.

And as the op mentions, teeth problems can cause all kinds of major health issues including with the heart. Taking care of everyone’s teeth pays for itself with other health benefits.
