The investigations will continue.

They will not stop with the acquittal of Donald Trump. Senators need to understand that.

The facts will continue to come out. Witnesses will continue to come forth. Secrets will continue to be exposed.

There is no sweeping it under the rug.

Six months from now, it will look much worse for Trump and the Republicans. The truth will not be denied.

This is a time for them to save themselves, and our country, from the disaster ahead. Things are not going to get better under Donald Trump. There is still time for them to organize their Party and compete in the next election.

But, don't doubt. The people are watching.

The American people will not let this stand.

They (PUtin & drumpf) are also guaranteeing they will primary anyone who deviates from total blind obedience & have a lot of dirt on lots of them from Russia's hack of their emails and the RNC email system. They don't care about their constituents, their state, their country or anything other than oligarchs (including theirs) profits and power. They are proving that daily.

...and granted, there are probably some elements of that rationale that might be correct, HOWEVER, I think for the vast majority of the GOP*ers in Congress, it's that they don't want to lose their cushy gigs in this world, or the next.

In this world, Congresscritters* make approximately $174,000 per year, with good government benefits. They also have numerous other "side-door" perks, courtesies, and considerations. Not to mention, the power of having the Federal government at their becks and call.

Where the real KA-CHING comes into play, is when Congresscritters* leave Congress and join the ranks of the lobbyists that infest Washington and they sell their influence and prestige gained during their terms to the highest bidders. Think Tanks, Institutes and Foundations also offer high dollars to those faithful toadies that towed the line. Book deals, corporate directorships, and other various "coffer fillers" adorn the bank accounts of former members of Congress.

And finally, once a Congressperson is retired --by their own choice or not-- they tend to fall into relative obscurity. The Beltway subculture is famous for forgetting who you are once your Congressional powers have waned.
