I think they want that. I saw that interview with Seculow a few hours ago. He was stammering, confusing and utterly unconvincing. In his defense it is impossible to try to defend the utterly indefensible.

2. They have nothing to say. So, it appears they want low viewership for when they say it.

It's an odd defense, but given they already don't want to cross examine witnesses, don't want to try to impeach the evidence, or put on any basic trial defense at all, not having people see the defense that won't exist seems the best course.
