Do the fucking job that our media should have been doing for the past 4 years.
That...in a nutshell...is where we are

(22,671 posts)Fucking networks play tRump spouting his talking points for 50 minutes and then give Americans fighting for the survival of our republic 50 seconds, then back to rePuticans for the remaining 10 minutes.
Thanks for calling them out!

(2,694 posts)who put Trump on the throne.
The media was looking for ratings and, thereby, sold its soul.
Comey wanted to convince the "Never Hillary" members of the FBI that he was one of them.
And Vladimir Putin knew that Hillary Clinton would view him (and properly so) as an adversary of the United States and all free people in the world, and act accordingly.

(1,850 posts)Agreed .. but with some exceptions. Notably Rachel Maddow has been on this almost every day.
It's best to remember that our "news media" is but entertainment.

(6,831 posts)There is an editorial cartoon floating around. It shows Jim as the journalist he was in the first frame, captioned with "News." In the second, it shows a shouting hack, with the caption, "Noise."
Nailed it.

Who are you specifically blaming?

While the Trump scandals made the news, they had nowhere near the prominence because there were so many of them.

(33,350 posts)During the 2016 campaign, the GOP succeeded at "working the Refs". Whine and flop and wheedle, and eventually the calls go your way.
Now, they foul so much the Refs can't call it all.

Thats straight out of the GOP/Russian propaganda playbook.
There are plenty of terrible media outlets like Fox News. Their desperate hope is that all media outlets will be tarred and feathered along with them. Thats how they hide the fact they arent news but political propaganda.
I inderstand your point, but you gotta be more specific pointing out the bad players from the good ones. The media is not to blame. Commercial, propaganda outlets are.

(15,345 posts)Even the network like MSNBC where Rachel does a great job, devolve into journalist interviewing journalist, and then we can rest assured that Chris Matthews or some other schmuck will come on to talk about "gravitas" and "optics".
Instead of hard hitting journalism to get at the truth, we get innumerable town Halls with hayseeds from Dumbfuckistan Murika.
Pundits chuckling about how media savvy Donnie Shit for Brains is as he destroys our country is NOT news.
60-70% of the American people have never heard the story of this dipshits corruption in a meaningful, fact supported way!
It's no wonder people care more about a morning show host catching whipped cream in their mouth.
Yeah, that was actually a "discussion" on MSNBC in the middle of a fucking impeachment hearing.

(56,828 posts)Morning Joe and Mika helped legitimize Trump - even though he was caught on mic begging them not ask him tough questions.
Catch2.2
(629 posts)the media is too busy having right wing pundits on their show so they can have view points from "both sides". As a result, they end up giving exposure to the right wing/trump propaganda that has corrupted this country!

Does make me wonder HOW the media has gotten the reputation of leaning left wing!!!

(22,845 posts)totally right wing. But there is a lot of excellent reporting and journalism going on, and we would all be totally clueless if it wasn't. Our enemy is the GOP and the right wing, not "the media." Whoever blames the media for the mess we're in should reflect on the fact that Trump hates the media, and blame it for all his problems.

(21,779 posts)Even Congress with subpoena power can't get information of documents from The White House. The media is doing better with FOIA lawsuits. As a result, most of what we know is from reporting by our media.
