Trumps lawyers were continuously making the argument that there was no witness who heard directly from him that the aid was being withheld until an announcement was made on the investigations of the Bidens. The House mangers never countered that there is plenty of circumstantial evidence that showed it, and that circumstantial evidence can be just as strong as direct evidence. Trumps lawyers walked right into it.
