NPR interviews Iowa woman who says she might be a racist to explain her support for 45

Kevin Guilfoile @kevinguilfoile

On Morning Edition just now, David Greene gently presses an Iowa voter who is having trouble articulating why she's voting for Trump even though she thinks Trump is "stupid" and that his policies will hurt her personally. "Maybe I'm a racist," she says.

If people feel this should be moved to the primaries forum, I will delete.

to have honest discussions about how living in a white supremacy means it's impossible to not be racist -- it's what we do with the racism that lives in our heads that's important.

their life--their attitudes, actions and language--seem normal to them. I remember one such moment when an in-law said "I'm not a racist, I just hate (N-words).

I'm rarely speechless, but at that moment I was. He must have thought to be racist, you have to hate all other races but your own.

Nonwhites worse. This is the philosophy that is the foundation of American politics and is nothing new.

When one feels empowered to boast about it on national TV, that's when you know. Racism is the new normal.
