https://www.rawstory.com/2020/02/trump-has-a-surprisingly-persistent-mormon-problem-according-to-this-new-study/When it comes to Mormon voters, President Trump is having trouble drumming up enthusiasm. According to a new study from the Democracy Fund + UCLA Nationscape which included 1,300 people who identified as Mormons within a sample of over 100,000 people.
Overall, 55% of U.S. Mormons surveyed said they approved of the way Trump is handling his job, with men (62%) being more supportive than women (51%), Religion News Services Jana Riess writes. That gender break, in which men are more likely to approve of Trump than women, has been consistent in other studies of Mormon voters, including 2019 research from Pew, in which the gap was even wider.
The study found that women are also more likely to disapprove of Trump than men, with only 33% of Mormon men saying they disapprove Trump job performance, compared with 44% of women.
When it comes to younger Mormons, Trump is struggling as well. In the 18 to 29 age group, Mormons are evenly divided, with 48% approving and 48% disapproving of Trump. Compare that to the over-65 demographic, in which 74% of U.S. Mormons approve, and only 26% disapprove.
Utah is probably still safe but this could hurt Trump in states like Arizona.

(35,701 posts)The Romney vote will likely encourage other Mormons to dump Trump.
Still have a hard time seeing Trump lose Utah although that could change if there were a strong conservative independent on the ballot there.

(34,661 posts)Congressional Campaign in 2012. It was for the new Fourth District which is South Western Utah, the Mormon Population was about 58% of total. With some towns being 100% Mormon. Said this before, all said and done we were able to muster 26 % of the total vote. Yes our polling was showing exactly what the about story told.
We had to fight back against the Negative Obama Vote because of the Racial hatred in grained in the Born and Raised Crowd as well as Sinclair and Gannett media groups.
We did see in the final review of voter data, the younger quintile of Mormon Voters, especially the female vote, showed trends of not following their Sunday Advisory from their Bishops. In 2014 the First Female City Counsel Person from the Southern Utah Dems was elected to office in St George, that happened by the trending of more Women Mormons finally voting for a Female Dem. The Candidate had run unsuccessfully for this spot on three previous election cycles.
