Ever since the Democrats in the House pulled the trigger on Impeachment, I've encountered a few people, and not just Republicans but also some Democrats, surprisingly, that literally believe that Impeachment was a mistake and that it will only make Trump more popular. My question is, where is evidence of this? If we're following the polls, a majority of people in the country wanted Trump removed from office, so why would his partisan acquittal by a highly partisan Republican Senate (see, they don't really care about bipartisanship when it comes to Impeaching a President) make him more popular, not just among his base, but among the general public and put him in a stronger position in November? Where did this new "conventional wisdom" even come from to begin with and why are even some Democrats buying into it?
