(203 posts)The rural water office is where we vote. And we have paper ballots. Wish dnc would come full out to get and help former gov Brad Henry to run against Inhofe spot. He could win.

(23,930 posts)My primary ballot is pretty simple, only one proposal to vote on. But in the general election, I like to go on the internets and see what I can find out about the candidates for school boards, judgeships, etc. The "partisan" part of the ballot is easy. The non-partisan part takes some study.

(24,084 posts)I simply prefer to do my research ahead of time, and then participate in Election Day.
That's just me.

(23,930 posts)There are a couple good places to get lunch near city hall.
My primary date is 3/10. I'll look at the bunch on 3/4, see who's still standing, then vote. The ballot is sitting on my desk, full of candidate names, some of whom are no longer in the race. Others will, in the word of R. Maddow, go "poof".

(38,171 posts)This is California's first election cycle with postage free envelopes, so I returned it by mail. Easy peasey, and with no divisive hot-button wedge issue propositions to deal with.

Call me crazy but the more hands that touch my ballot, the riskier its final desired destination.

(63,221 posts)reasons. You have to be physically out of town and unable to get to the polls on election day, be physically disabled and unable to get to the polls, or you can't attend for religious reasons.
You can't just vote by mail because it's easier and you don't feel like standing in line, although I wish we could. I think sometimes the lines deter some people because they either have to vote before or after work, and if they have kids, pets or elderly parents, they might not have the time or patience to wait in long lines if they have other responsibilities waiting for them at home.
I really wish we could change our system to make it more convenient for everyone to vote. Unfortunately, a lot of people just don't want to bother with the hassle. It doesn't deter me, but we obviously have a problem in this country getting people out to the polls and we need a way to make it easier for them.

(12,540 posts)I do what my parents did, I get dressed up like I am going to Church and wait in line to cast my ballot. I find it a wonderful feeling of patriotism to go in person and vote. I know at some point I may not be able to do that due to health concerns but until then I will continue to vote on election day.

(7,431 posts)I discovered yesterday that I can vote in the Democratic Primary, if I just request a ballot with the candidates on the ballot. Even on election day, I can just turn in my mail ballot, and request a Dem ballot. This is called a cross-over ballot. If I lose my mail ballot, I can show up and vote a conditional Dem ballot.
I am a permanent vote-by-mail voter, but I show up at the poll anyway, to drop my ballot off with the pollsters, because ((I don't really trust the post office anymore...))

(9,988 posts)There's a place to do it right by my office that usually has no line except at lunch break time, it's super convenient. And I can rest easy knowing that even if I get hit by a bus before Election Day, at least my vote is in.
