Also, it proves that the Republicans were wrong in not convicting him.
Since his acquittal by the Republican Senate, he has been on a vengeance tour. He has been cracking down on all his perceived enemies. The Justice Dept is in turmoil. Four prosecutors resigned in one day. He is using Bill Barr to apply his own "justice".
Today, he is in a battle of words with John Kelly, his ex-Chief of Staff. He is warning him to keep his mouth shut.
If there was any doubt about how he would react once he was acquitted, it has now been removed.
The Democrats have proven that he should have been impeached and removed. The Republicans have proven themselves unworthy of representing the interests of the American people. They were absolutely wrong in not removing this president.

(16,685 posts)the Senate result was never really in doubt but failure for the House to do everything in their power (and continue to do so) to check these fascists would have been a far worse alternative.

(6,180 posts)It's going to come and hurt him in November.
Although his base is loving it, every time he attacks someone he loses votes from the middle.
Without the middle, Trump can't win.

(12,586 posts)We talk about Reagan as being the "Teflon president." With Fat Donnie, I think a more appropriate term would be the "force field president." Stuff doesn't just slide off of him -- it gets incinerated in a barrage of tweets.
I think history will show Twitter to be the worst invention of the twenty-first century, because it enabled a tyrant to rise to power.

(1,685 posts)Unfortunately, because impeachment is a political process the lack of the support by the public which would have translated into pressure on Republican Senators was lacking. The end result is an increasingly unhinged asshat-in-chief and a revitalized base shooting approval numbers ( approval??? Jesus, people are idiots) near 50%.
This was a dangerous gamble. So far the result has not been good. The problem was it had to be done no matter the result. Now we have to retrench and get a good candidate to defeat this schmuck.
