In an exclusive interview, Attorney General Bill Barr told ABC News on Thursday that President Donald Trump "has never asked me to do anything in a criminal case but should stop tweeting about the Justice Department because his tweets make it impossible for me to do my job.
Barrs comments are a rare break with a president who the attorney general has aligned himself with and fiercely defended. But it also puts Barr in line with many of Trumps supporters on Capitol Hill who say they support the president but wish hed cut back on his tweets.
I think its time to stop the tweeting about Department of Justice criminal cases, Barr told ABC News Chief Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas.
When asked if he was prepared for the consequences of criticizing the president his boss Barr said of course because his job is to run the Justice Department and make decisions on what I think is the right thing to do.

Oh, just fuck him. WTF is he trying to pull here?

(102,279 posts)Sounds like a hatched "solution" they'd come up with to take the heat off Barr from within DOJ and others.

He's looking for plausible deniability.

(6,531 posts)Odd time for Barr to publicly criticise the pRes. I'll bet tRump is already looking for Barr's replacement.
Trump is outta control, and Barr seems to be trying to pull him back. But, how does this prevent Barr from doing his job?
Total strangeness.

(3,131 posts)Barr gets his marching orders directly from trump.
The tweets are completely unnecessary.
I suppose barr could argue that any oversight is unnecessary because the tweets make it obvious. Yeah thats the ticket.

Oh, please. Bill Barr pretending to be upset by Trump issuing public commands for interference in investigations is just a transparently unconvincing way of denying that he's taking those orders directly from Trump.
Greg Sargent ✔@ThePlumLineGS
This is sobering.
GOP Senators are now claiming there's *no evidence* Trump directly interfered in the DOJ/Roger Stone matter.
So Trump can now *openly* direct Barr to interfere, and Rs can say it never happened, because it didn't happen *secretly.*https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/02/12/trump-openly-corrupts-doj-former-insider-sounds-alarm/
