People conduct business every day with entities that are not identified with any particular individual.

If you want to set up a corporation owned by a trust, and have nominee directors as authorized signatories on any required documents, nobody on the outside needs to know who you are, and your attorney certainly can't violate your confidentiality.

Needless to say, folks have been trying to 'get behind' Pest Control for quite some time. It's an interesting story if you are into the Banksy stuff....

https://www.myartbroker.com/artist/banksy/the-practical-guide-to-pest-control/

What is The Pest Control Office?

Pest Control is the only official body that can authenticate your Banksy print. It was set up in 2009 and is run by Banksy himself. It continues his desire to keep at arms-length from the traditional gallery system. It also, very occasionally, has works to sell; you can sign up for an email list to be contacted about such news.

No other body has the authority to authenticate Banksy’s works, although from time to time there are attempts to establish dealer-led independent verification bodies, none of them has achieved any true staying power.

Pest Control only certifies pieces that were produced for commercial sale, mostly the editions of silkscreen prints. Street-art pieces made on walls, doors, etc., won’t get a certificate (with a few occasional exceptions). They were never meant to be sold so Banksy won’t condone their sale later on (for more information on this please read Is That A Real Banksy? How To Verify Banksy Prints With Pest Control.

Banksy finally goes to court to stop unauthorised merchandising, despite saying copyright is for losers

The unauthorised copying of Banksy works is widespread – a stroll through London’s popular markets in Camden and Brick Lane, and a quick search online proves that. His work has been printed and reproduced on everything from mugs to mouse mats. But despite previous rumours that Banksy’s lawyers have sent letters to complain about his artworks being exploited, it seems so far that these objections have not made their way into courtrooms.

However, at the end of 2018, Pest Control, the handling service that authenticates Banksy’s artworks, took action against an Italian company that organised an exhibition – The art of Banksy. A visual protest – for Milan’s Mudec Museum. The event opened in November 2018, and runs until April 2019.

---------------

It's the only way to authenticate Banksy works or Banksy-authorized reproductions.

It is, literally, the office Banksy uses to control pests.

10. Bristol Valentine's Day Banksy mural vandalised

A mural by Banksy has been defaced just 48 hours after it appeared.
...
Banksy confirmed he was behind the piece by posting a picture of the work on his Instagram page at midnight on Valentine's Day.

But an offensive phrase has now been daubed over the street artist's design in bright pink lettering.

A perspex panel placed over the artwork on Thursday to protect it has also been torn down, with the vandals directly defacing Banksy's design.

David Anslow, property owner: I had a house in Easton, Bristol – where Banksy used to hang out – which I was renting out to students. One day, one of the students phoned up to ask if his “graffiti artist friend” could do some artwork on the side. I thought it would be pretty cool but didn’t think much more about it. Years later, a friend of ours suddenly said, “Did you know you’ve got a Banksy on your house?” He showed me Banksy’s book, Wall and Piece, and there was our house, with a 32-foot mural on it, the full width of the building. It reminded me of Picasso’s Guernica.

The crazy thing is that at the time we were trying to sell the house, but couldn’t sell it because of the graffiti. People went, “We love the house, but we’re not buying it with all that stuff on the side.” Then we had this bright idea of selling the Banksy and throwing the house in for free as a publicity stunt for the urban art gallery Red Propeller we were starting.

I wanted to make sure any buyer would preserve the mural, but then it all kicked off. The phone started ringing day and night. An Australian offered £400,000. Someone from Los Angeles wanted to take the entire wall to California – the house would have fallen down. When the council sent someone to clean it off, the local people went mad and chased them down the street: we were all very protective of the Banksy. But once the news got round, someone broke into the house, smashed it up and chucked buckets of red paint all over the picture. It was ruined, but then every graffiti artist in Bristol wanted to tag it, so it became this collage of graffiti art, with the remnants of the Banksy still visible.

When it all quietened down, the house sold for around its value: £160,000. Part of the reason Banksy goes incognito is because he got into trouble with the council for defacing public property.

</snip>

Getting your wall tagged by Banksy is a mixed bag, I guess.
