Bob Iger steps down as Disney CEO. Bob Chapek replaces him

New York (CNN Business) Bob Iger has stepped down as CEO of the Walt Disney Company (DIS), effective immediately.
Bob Chapek is the new CEO, the board of directors announced on Tuesday. He most recently served as chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.
Iger has assumed the role of executive chairman and will direct the company's creative endeavors, the company said.

(17,863 posts)Apple was becoming an entertainment content provider and adding their own streaming service. They were also looking to acquire a studio. It is amazing that he was on the board as long as he was.

Also Star Wars Lucasfilm has been under performing. The SW brand seems adrift.

Don't think Iger gets pushed aside for the Fox movies. The timing agree more with the Weinstein trial fallout.

(2,356 posts).... other than Iger WAS expected to step down at the end of his contract in 2021.
Iger has an excellent reputation on many leadership and management levels, including his time at Disney. He was TIME's 2019 Businessperson of the Year. His 2019 book "The Ride of a Lifetime" is a very good read, imho.
Here's hoping nothing sad or weird is going on.
