(81,871 posts)I think that Obama will handle any of them with ease. Some are just nastier than others.

(14,177 posts)Romney has the most experience debating the liberal side of an issue than any of the other candidates.

(35,701 posts)perspective. Most curious. I cannot for the life of me understand why he is completely trashing Mitt like this.

(28,811 posts)i believe it is because romney's campaign ran a bunch of nasty ads about gingrich leading up to the caucus in iowa. then, gingrich lost the caucus. so he's pissed. from what i understand, gingrich has poor self control coupled with delusions of grandeur and the firm belief that he is the smartest one in the room.
he's unhinged.

(35,701 posts)with the mainstream Republican Party. Assuming Mitt gets the nomination, Newt's attacks will have greatly weakened Mitt and if Mitt goes on to lose in a big way to Obama and drags down a bunch of Senate and House candidates with him, there will be serious bloodletting in the Republican Party and Newt will be one of the villains. Not only will he be shut out as a future candidate, he will be a pariah and will be shut out of any significant influence within the Republican Party. No way would have John McCain have secured the Republican nomination in 2008 if he had gone after Bush like this for what Karl Rove did to him in the 2000 SC primary - far worse than anything which Mitt's surrogates did to Newt.
